Held each year during the first week in October, the Balloon Fiesta now features about 600 balloons and 700 pilots. Many local artists take advantage of the balloons as subject matter for their paintings, and even if you and your date don't go for a ride, your date will be enthralled with the color and variety floating above you in the sky. This years festival runs Sat, Oct 7, 2023 - Sun, Oct 15, 2023. BUT, dont just hop on any old balloon, RAINBOW RYDERS, INC. is the only balloon ride company that is authorized to take off from Balloon Fiesta Park during the Fiesta. 2. Visit the Albuquerque Biological Park

- This park features the Rio Grande Zoo, Aquarium, and Botanic Garden, making it a perfect all day date adventure for you and your date. Established in 1927, the Zoo is home to more than 900 animals from around the world, and The Botanic Garden’s BUGarium is one of the most elaborate exhibits dedicated to bugs and arthropods in the country. Over the years it has grown to 32 acres of exhibits, and showcases plants from the American Southwest and around the world. Bugs and animals not hitting the spot as your idea of a romantic date idea? Hit up the ABQ BioPark Aquarium which showcases a variety of colorful fish native to many of the ecosystems found throughout the United States, and the popular Shark Reef Café that offers amazing views into a 285,000-gallon ocean tank, making an unforgettable dining experience for you and your date. 3. Explore the Sandia Peak Tramway

- Take a scenic ride to the top of the Sandia Mountains for romantic, breathtaking panoramic views of Albuquerque and beyond. Rising from the hustle and bustle of Albuquerque, you and your date will ascend one of America’s most stunning urban peaks, reaching the 10,378-foot crest of the Sandia Mountains where an 11,000 square mile panoramic view awaits. Try to go at an off-peak time, and remember to seat your date by the front window of the tram for a view that will make them never forget the moment they fell in love with you. Bring a windbreaker or jacket in fall and winter months. If you take the last cable car at 8pm the city lights will be stunning. A romantic rush in a mere 15 minute ride to the top where you will find a Forest Service Visitor Center, hiking trails, scenic decks and the ski area, along with the new Ten 3 restaurant. Sandiago's Grill is open daily at the base of the tram along with a Gift Shop and the NM Ski Museum. Just remember to purchase tickets online ahead of time! If you're active/retired or a military veteran make sure you ask for the discount. It will save you a few bucks but overall the views from the top with your date will be priceless!
